Aurora Maria Izquierda founded the production of Colombia ANEI in the 1980s, and it still maintains a high quality harvest today. Being one of the first women of the Arhuaca community to leave for higher education, she returned after graduating to help improve the quality of life in her home community. Her goal was to create a sustainable agriculture program and employ her local community members.
Dedicated to preserving the natural surroundings, Aurora qualified their production for fair trade and organic certifications, resulting in additional premiums to strengthen the community.
